Award-Winning Cycling Without Age Documentary Coming to Easton on December 4, 2024

Cycling without Age

There is something about riding a bike that makes you feel like a kid again. The new documentary, Cycling Without Age, explores how pedal power can rekindle this childlike wonder after we lose our ability to ride. Fresh off its U.S. premiere at the Oscar-qualifying Indy Shorts International Film Festival, this informative and engaging documentary will be shown for free at the Brookletts Place – Talbot County Senior Center at 400 Brookletts Ave. in Easton on December 4, 2024, at 5:30 p.m. with discussion to follow.

Cycling Without Age follows the story of John Seigel-Boettner, a retired middle school teacher looking for his next classroom. He and his crew of volunteers take seniors from across the community on pedal-powered trishaw rides along the beach and through the woods to feel the wind in their hair again. Through the intimate moments of these rides, the film shows how shared outdoor experiences can build connections—between pilot and passenger, past and present. Cycling Without Age presents a unique portrait of aging and asks audiences to consider the importance of the outdoors for those who are all too often trapped inside.

The film was shot on the streets and bike paths of Santa Barbara, California, with the generous support of MOVE Santa Barbara County and Cotopaxi. After a world premiere at the Danish Film Institute in Copenhagen, Pedal Born Pictures is working with Cycling Without Age chapters around the world on a grassroots screening tour to grow the movement.

After the event, attendees are invited to join the founder of the Cycling without Age program in Anne Arundel County, Sandy Bishop, and Heather Grant, Executive Director of Talbot Thrive, to discuss the creation of a Cycling without Age chapter in Talbot County.
