Working for Healthy, Safe and Connected Communities

Safe places to walk and bike are essential infrastructure — not amenities.

Talbot Thrive is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, formed in 2021, committed to transforming Talbot County into a place where healthy living, safe mobility, and outdoor recreation are a reality, for all. We envision a future where residents, workers, students, and visitors can walk, bike, run, or roll safely for daily needs, commuting, recreation, and connection to community life.

This strategic plan outlines our goals, priorities, and actionable strategies for the next three years — focusing on advocacy, education, community engagement, events, partnerships, and organizational sustainability.

Strategic Plan Cover

What is micromobility?

Micromobility refers to movement using lightweight non-motorized modes of transportation designed for short trips—typically a few miles—often used in cities and towns. These modes are usually human-powered, electric, or a mix of both, and they take up far less space than cars.

Mission

To promote healthy living, active movement and safe mobility for all residents, workers, and visitors in Talbot County — fostering a vibrant, connected, and resilient community.

Vision

Talbot County is an inclusive, equitable community, designed for people of all ages and abilities — with safe streets, accessible trails, and welcoming public spaces that support everyday movement and community well-being.

Core Values

1. Safety First: We prioritize the safety of people who walk, bike, run, and roll in all our advocacy, planning, and programming

2. Community-Driven: We listen to and work alongside residents, volunteers, and partners to shape solutions that address local needs

3. Equity & Accessibility: We believe everyone—regardless of age, ability, or background—deserves to be able to move safely, comfortably through their community and to easily access the outdoors

4. Collaboration: We build productive partnerships with local governments, schools, businesses, and organizations to achieve shared goals

5. Health & Well-Being: We promote safe transportation and outdoor recreation as essential to physical, mental, and social health

6. Action-Oriented Impact: We focus on turning ideas into practical outcomes through education, planning, and on-the-ground improvements

Talbot Thrive thrives through collaboration with public agencies, schools, health partners, local nonprofits, and residents. Key collaborative pillars include:

  • Local Government — Talbot County, Towns of Easton, Oxford, St. Michael’s, Trappe and other planning bodies
  • Education & Youth Safety — Community nonprofits, schools, parks & recreation partners
  • Health & Wellness Organizations — Local public health entities, YMCA, gyms, sports clubs
  • Business & Sponsorship Networks — Community businesses and member-based philanthropy organizations

Together, these partnerships strengthen our ability to advocate for safer mobility and build a healthier, more connected Talbot County for everyone.
